Canon Rev George McClenaghan

(1837 - 1917)

Welcome to ‘People Like Us’, by me, Julie Parsons. The book is about my four families: The Purefoys, the Chamberlains, the Parsons and the McClenaghans.

There are, of course, many, many stories about the people of the four families, and the world in which they lived, and there are also many, many photographs of the family members. Unfortunately I couldn’t include them all in the book, so I decided that I would use this website to tell many of these extra stories and show many of the photographs that didn’t make it into the book.

I hope you will enjoy them.

And here I am. This photo was taken by my brother, Simon Parsons, in his house in Dunedin in the South Island of New Zealand, when I was visiting him for his birthday on 15th December, 2024.
